Joshua Ventura, Esq.

A Philadelphia Attorney Committed to the People He Serves

Joshua Ventura, Esq. is an attorney at Harden Crichton, P.C., where he represents individuals and families in personal injury, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, civil rights, and other complex civil matters.

A lifelong Philadelphian, Joshua grew up in the city's Kensington neighborhood and developed an early understanding of the challenges facing working families and local communities. His connection to Philadelphia remains central to who he is as an attorney and fuels his commitment to advocating for people and families when they need it most.

Litigation Experience Built Through Public Service

Joshua earned his Juris Doctor from Drexel University’s Thomas R. Kline School of Law, where he developed a strong foundation in litigation and trial advocacy through hands-on experience in criminal defense, civil rights, and public-interest litigation.

At Drexel Kline, Joshua served as a certified legal intern with the Defender Association of Philadelphia, representing indigent clients in felony preliminary hearings and misdemeanor trials. He was also selected as a Carl “Tobey” Oxholm Public Service Fellow in recognition of his commitment to public service. Through the fellowship, he served in the Civil Rights Unit of the City of Philadelphia Law Department, working on state and federal litigation involving constitutional, civil tort, and civil rights claims against the City of Philadelphia, its agencies, departments and employees.

Joshua also served as a law clerk with the Federal Public Defender, where he worked on federal criminal matters involving constitutional issues, appeals, sentencing, post-conviction matters, and other complex issues in federal court.

Joshua served as a judicial intern with the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania, gaining firsthand insight into the judicial process and developing a deeper understanding of how judges evaluate legal arguments, evidence, and the issues presented before the court.

Together, these experiences gave Joshua the opportunity to see litigation from multiple perspectives, including those of defense counsel and the court, and shaped his approach to preparing and litigating cases.

Representing People When the Stakes Are High

Today, Joshua brings that experience to Harden Crichton, P.C., where he works on cases involving individuals and families facing serious injuries, significant losses, and complex legal issues.

Joshua is actively involved in cases from the initial investigation through settlement and trial. He works directly with clients, develops case strategy, conducts legal research, prepares pleadings and motions, and assists in the litigation of matters inside and outside of the courtroom.

Joshua understands that, for a client, a legal case is more than a legal case. It may involve an injury that has changed a person's ability to work, a family coping with the loss of a loved one, or someone seeking accountability after being harmed. He approaches each matter with thorough preparation, personal attention, and strong advocacy, working to ensure that his clients' experiences, interests, and stories are effectively presented.

A Commitment to Philadelphia and Public Service

Joshua's commitment to Philadelphia is personal.

His father owned and operated a neighborhood bodega in North Philadelphia, where Joshua began working at a young age. Growing up working behind the counter and assisting members of the community gave him an early connection to the people, families, and neighborhoods that make up Philadelphia. That experience shaped his understanding of hard work, community, and the importance of being there for others.

Joshua attended Philadelphia public schools, including Mariana Bracetti Academy Charter School, before earning his undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University and his Juris Doctor from Drexel University’s Thomas R. Kline School of Law.

During law school, Joshua provided volunteer legal services through Philadelphia Lawyers for Social Equity, assisting Philadelphians with criminal record expungements and pardon applications. He also hosted immigration clinics at the Mexican Consulate, connecting members of the Philadelphia community with immigration legal resources and assistance.

Joshua's commitment to public service and his connection to the Philadelphia community have been recognized through scholarships and awards, including the Honorable Nelson A. Diaz Scholarship from the Hispanic Bar Association of Pennsylvania, the Carl “Tobey” Oxholm Public Service Fellowship, the inaugural “Bodega Kids” Scholarship from the Dominican Bar Association, the Philadelphia Bar Association's Eve Biskind Klothen Public Interest Award, and the Barristers' Association of Philadelphia Scholarship.
